I want to write a letter to the soon to be mom who is like me. And honestly maybe all mom's can relate but I learned this the hard way (how I tend to learn most things) and maybe this can help someone out there who is a little like me.
So I'll start with a little bit about me. I am a talker, sharer, over analyzer. I love personality tests - I'm an INFJ, a type 5, a pisces. I am a list writer, a super planner, a dreamer of big dreams, a romantic. I like to call everything in life an adventure from going to the mall to hiking a mountain in New Zealand - its all an "adventure." Don't you dare tell me you have a big surprise for me because by the time you give it to me I'll have dreamt it up to be a surprise trip around the world! Before I encounter any situation I'll have imagined 12 different outcomes positive and negative. I don't trust people, I learn things the hard way, I am stubborn and I am annoyingly confident in what I think and...
Okay y’all full disclosure: I am not a doctor! I am not a midwife or a nurse or anyone with any authority on the matter but I thought I would share what I have learned/what I am doing to help move things along.
I want to start by saying I believe babies will come when they are ready. Non of these methods are proven to start labor, most of them are just ways to help your body prepare for labor when your body is ready for it! The only things proven to make women go into labor are done by a medical professional. Please do your own research and talk to your doctor or midwife before you decide to try any of these things!
My baby boy will come when he wants to come! I am simply trying to prepare/strengthen my body for when that moment comes! My “dream” would be to have my babe come on his own and let my body do its thing naturally! I would prefer to not be induced, and prefer to not have medical intervention to start labor but if thats what my body needs than that...
Y’all, four weeks until my due date! I don’t even know how I can wait that long, I am so excited! That being said, he could really come at any time so I like to be prepared. I actually started this process way to far in advance if I am being honest. I am a bit of an over planner/preparer! It gets me excited and helps me get organized!
When I first found out I was pregnant I knew I wanted the Itzy Ritzy Boss backpack in the coffee and cream finish! I was lucky enough to get it for Christmas! I love it so much and get compliments on it all the time!
So once I received my bag, I started packing for baby Joshua. I have watched countless “whats in my hospital bag videos, read blogs and Pinterest posts and here is what I have come up with for us!
- Check out my video on youtube to see all of these things!
I am so excited about the Mountain Mural in our nursery! I love the way it turned out and I wanted to share the steps I took to achieve this awesome part of our nursery!
As soon as we found out we were pregnant I knew what I wanted for our nursery! Ben and I love to travel! We spent our honeymoon on the South Island of New Zealand, exploring, hiking, and taking in the incredible beauty! We spent two weeks this summer exploring Norway and Sweden, we have taken trips all around the USA, hiking, and taking in the natural beauty of our world! I knew that our nursery had to have a travel/outdoor theme! I began researching and pinning and narrowing my ideas! I saw some mountain murals in different nurseries on pinterest and I loved it!
Side note- Ben and I have spent this year listening to the Chronicles of Narnia on audible. We both love this series, for what it means and for the imagination and magic! When I listen to these books I imagine New Ze...
I have always been a bit afraid of pregnancy. My siblings and I were close in age and I haven’t had a whole lot of experience with it. It was always this kind of scary black cloud looming in the future. Everything I thought about it was from movies and TV.
My husband and I have known each other for a long time and we always talked about wanting a big family! I am a big researcher, so before my husband and I started trying I started doing research, reading books and blogs, watching vlogs and tracking my cycle. I learned so much in that time about what to expect from so many wonderful women who have shared their experience with us!
I want to preface this with a few thoughts.
I am so blessed and have had such an easy and wonderful pregnancy, some women have a much harder time with sickness and aches and everything. That being said - pregnancy is not ever “easy.” Your body is working extremely hard creating a human and everyone h...
I was so excited to start my second trimester! In fact, each week that passes I get more and more excited as we get closer and closer to our little babe entering the world!
My second trimester was overall pretty great! My nausea subsided, and my food aversions went away! I started to have more energy, and was able to get back into a workout routine again. My goal was three or four days a week, sometimes it ended up being less and sometimes more, just depending on the week but overall I kept up pretty well with working out and eating healthy!
I did a lot of traveling this trimester! At about 13 weeks I visited a friend in New Hampshire. At 14 weeks I went on a bachelorette trip to Savannah. Ben and I spend a weekend in North Georgia at 20 weeks. 20 weeks we also found out our babes gender!! The gender reveal party was around 22 weeks and we were able to celebrate our little BOY with all of our family and friends!
Y’all! I am so excited to tell you about this crazy thing that happened to us!
A few weeks ago, Ben got a voice mail from Diamonds Direct, where he had purchased my ring, and they offered him a opportunity. When we heard the word opportunity we figured they were trying to sell us something and as we are expecting our first baby, we are not exactly in the market for diamonds right now! (More like cribs and breast pumps haha) Over the next few days they tried to reach out to us in different ways and we figured we should find out exactly what they were offering because it seemed pretty important! It turns out that the diamond Ben had picked was a trade-in. The woman who traded it in had a death in her family and the diamond that she traded in was important to them. Diamonds Direct told us that it meant a lot to her and she would love to have it as a memory for her family. They told us we should feel no obligation to give it back to her but if we were interested they...
Hey y'all! Thought I would post a fall favorites! I have so been enjoying all of the maternity and baby recommendations from some of the awesome ladies I follow on Instagram and YouTube. These are some things I've purchased recently that I have really fallen in love with!
- maternity underware from @motherhoodmaternity
I totally underestimated how amazing these would be. I put off buying them because I figured it was just a silly way to spend more money. Boy was I wrong. These are so comfortable but the best part is they don't roll down when I bend or get out of my car or pick up something I dropped!!! I love this purchase! I got a size medium.
Oh what a wonderful feeling it is to walk outside in the morning and not feel the hot breath of summer surround you! This weekend and beginning of the week has been incredible. I love sitting outside with my pumpkin coffee ( I know, I know) and watching the dogs play in the first few leaves falling around the yard. As this season begins, lets talk about the coolest props to bring to fall photo shoots.
So simple yet so cozy. Bringing a favorite blanket from your home, not only brings you some warmth but also adds a personal touch to the photo shoot. You can wrap it around both of you for a little romance or lay it on the ground and sit on it as a family. Whatever you do, bring a blanket!
2. Hot Beverage
For me this would be coffee, my favorite thing about a chill in the air is holding a warm cup of coffee close and watching the steam dance in the air. For you, this may be hot chocolate or hot apple cider, whatever your drink of choice, i...
Okay so, pretty soon Ben and I will be on our way to NEW ZEALAND! I mean, I can barely think about anything else. I am so excited to see the sights, shoot beautiful photos, explore the mountains on horseback, and just spend some quality time with my best friend! Gosh I just can’t wait! It seems like just a week ago we were wondering when and where we would be able to go on a honeymoon. Through lots of changes and hard work, we made our honeymoon our ultimate dream trip!!! We just had to wait 6 months.
Ok, so lets be real for a minute… Weddings are SO EXPENSIVE! So I feel its perfectly fine to wait a few months, save up, and plan a trip that you really want to go on, instead of settling for whats doable the week after you just spent thousands of dollars!
How Did I Plan A Trip To New Zealand?
The internet is an amazing resource! I did a ton of research! I found some amazing vlogs that really helped me out. Shout out to my favorite vlogger Psycho Traveller.
